Rock City in Olean NY

We have adopted a cat spider. Glen catches flies and throws it on the spider web. The kids love to watch the cat spider drop down and spin it's newest victim in webbing for later consumption.

We visited the Pennsilvania Grande Canyon

These are pics of Rock City.

Big Foot seems to be a big deal here. I saw at a restaurant a posted flyer announcing the annual big foot hunt.  It was some kind of fundraiser.
I get excited when i see these signs.  :)
So I have to say, one time i didn't bring my camera with me in the car, was the one time I saw a bear!  I saw this big blob crossing the road. I slowed as I got closer and then I just pulled over to the shoulder and me and the kids just watched the bear.  I was so exciting.  The bear was pulling meat off of road kill (poor deer). We just stayed there for several minutes...like 15 and watched the bear.  The kids got really excited when it stood up on its hind legs.  It was a smaller bear, about as tall as Glen when it stood up. It was so cool to be so close to it (but safe in the car)...well, except for when i got out to dump chips on the road in the hopes it would come closer. I know I known, i'll never do that again, I got an ear full from Wendy.
I also thought it was such a magical moment when the bear gazed into my eyes....from just across the road!. It was like our souls were communicating!  i know, i'm being a bit cheesy.  i was just so excited to witness the bear in its wild setting instead of in a cage at a zoo or just a quick glimpse running across the road when i was riding my bike a few years back (in washington).  anyway, its a moment i'll cherish forever.

Linda's completely amazed at all the trees there! She imagined the east coast is crowded with mostly congested cities. : ) Very interesting rock formations. Can't wait to go there.
Kids look so cute framed in the window. We had a spider with a huge web. It was hooked to the house, the brick planter and then all the way across to Linda's car in the drive. Couldn't believe it stretched a good five feet! Glad you got to see a bear but I'm more glad he was occupied with dinner and didn't need to pounce on you!

those places look beautiful! Wish I could visit you and spend a few days taking pictures. So happy you can explore that part of the country. (minus the bears.) :)

Haha, yeah, a magical moment as the bear gazed into your eyes and imagined pulling you apart limb by limb. Your soul was saying, "It's soooo beauuuu-ti-fullll" and the bear's soul was saying, "She looks sooo tastyyyyy."

Rock city really is rocks. I was thinking of rock music. That reminds me of the big rocks we saw at Moab, except those were all orange and rusty-dusty looking. I hope the kids remember all your adventures over there. It's cool you get to see all those things and historical places.
