 above is a mystery. don't know the name and have only seen it once. i was lucky to get this shot. it flew off and away!

im assuming the other bird is the female house finch.  not sure. i see these two together all the time.

Everyone loves Gretchen

                                 Gretchen at 1 and 4 years old.

 Glen says that God gave Gretchen a little extra sunshine.
We are constantly hearing comments like, "oh she is going home with me!" and "what a cheerful little girl".
I think Gretchen is going to grow up and be a motivational speaker.

The sand is so smooth and pure! Such a nice beach for toddlers. It goes way out and stays shallow. it's like a huge kiddie pool and the water was warm!!!

Surprise in the morning!

I just sprayed home defense inside and outside our house. Then this is what I find first thing in the morning in the kids bathroom! So glad I found it before they did!

Gak stuff

This was fun and easy to make too! We just store it in ziplock baggy till they want to play with it again.

3/4 cup cold water
1 cup elmers glue
1/2 c. hot water
1 tsp borax.

dissolve borax in hot water and set aside. mix together glue and cold water. then add borax mixture and food coloring. thats it!  so fun!

Jello Playdo

1 c. flour
1 c. water
1/4 c. salt
2 tbsp. oil
1 tbsp. cream of tarter
1 pkg. sugar free jello

mix all in pot and cook on low heat. whisk together then switch to spatula as it thickens. remove from heat when ball forms.

I love this playdo. so easy. It's the first time I ever made playdo. I got this recipe of a homeschool blog. It smells so good and is so soft!

The Mobile Zoo

 There were tons of birds/parrots here. one was singing and then said hello. it was so cute to watch the kids try to talk to it. Jack said "i love you" and the bird said, "I love you too"  then jack walked up closer to the cage and the bird screamed like a girl and scared him but then he laughed and laughed.

 The chimpanzee was our favorite. He was very inneractive. It started playing with Ginger. It would run to the end of it's cage then Ginger would and then it would run back and then she would. back and forth back and forth. It was fun to watch. Soon all the kids were running back and forth. It would copy the kids. Jump up and down if they did.make silly sounds if they did. Ginger wanted to go say good bye to it before we left the zoo.  She told me we needed to go back because he was probably waiting for her to come back and play. so cute!

 The kids were dropping peanuts down the pipe and the bears gobbled them up at the other end.

There were lots of other animals, I just didn't feel like taking a gazillion pics.

Never thought I would say this...

 but, I think I'm becoming a Birder. I always thought it was funny how people would get exspensive cameras and binoculars and go to bird trails and sit and wait for  bird to come by.  But I'm finding myself wanting to do just that. It sounds relaxing and exciting. And, right here in Alabama is the one of the Nations best birding sanctuaries!  It's on Dauphin Island just an hour from us.

 I was so thrilled to get this picture. It's like the bird was posing just for me! I love that vibrant red!!

 It's woody wood pecker!

I love red but to my surprise, I think this is my favorite! I love that bright yellow and the birds pose.  :)
