Gospel Tabernacle Potluck and music

First of all, isn't this the cutest frog! I was so excited when the kids found it. They found more later in the evening and we took them home and kept them for a few days.
Our landlord, Sally and Slim invited us to their church potluck for fun and music and sharing testimonies. Sally and Slim sing southern gospel music.  We all just love it.  They are really good and we got one of their cds. Some other members sing too.  The kids loved running and dancing around to the music and making new friends.

Gretchen just invites herself on everyone's lap and charms them all.

I asked Sally and Slim if they knew "In the Garden".  So they worked on it and learned it for me so they could play it that evening. I thought that was so sweet.

Book of Mormon Historic Publication Site

everything in this room was restored except the flooring. Its so cool to think Joseph walked on these very floors so long ago!

I liked this room the best. To see the original ink splatters and all the equipment. To just stand and absorb everything and to think that many hours were spent in this room hard at work. Truly amazing!
Notice the ink splatters on the walls and floor.

These were used to transfer the ink.

After the ink dried then the papers went to this room to be cut and sewn into a book.

Hill Cumorrah Pageant

I decided last minute to take the kids and go to the Hill Cummorrah Pageant. Glen had to work so I initially figured I wouldn't go but Im glad I changed my mind. The kids and I stayed the night at the Palmyra Inn.  It was really nice to be so close to the pageant and the Inn provided Shuttle service to and from the Pageant.
Here are some pics I got. Im so glad I had a night photo option. Before they started they asked the audience to refrain from using flashes. I love my camera! I also used my extra zoom lense. The Pageant is about 70 minutes long.  They have seating available for 9,000 people per night.  Restrooms and water fountains were easy accessible. The play itself was really neat.  Lots of cool effects. Lighting, sound, storms etc. It was great! The kids got a little nervous and kept asking me if it was for real.

Wellsville, NY Balloon Festival

We went to the festival saturday night and due to bad weather the balloons couldn't lift off so I set my clock and got up at 5am sunday morning, drove an hour so i wouldn't miss the lift off at 6am. There were 26 total. I want to make this one (above) into a puzzle. I think the clouds and reflection would make it tricky but fun!

the pics below are from the night before.

LOVE!

I saw this heart shaped log sitting out in front of someone's yard so I knocked on the door and asked if I could use it as a prop for some pictures.  This sweet 92 year old lady invited me in and showed me her wedding pictures and said that she just celebrated their 70th anniversary! Her kids came down to cut wood for them and they came across this heart shaped log!  I'm going to pic on of these pics and make a anniversary card to give them since they let me use their heart and yard.
