We're moving!

Our home inspection passed and we are moving tomorrow!! I'm so excited that tonight is the last night we will sleep in this hot cramped upstairs apartment. I have EVERYTHING packed and ready to go!
I'll drop off Ginger at gramma's tomorrow morning and start taking loads over to the house. Hopefully it won't take too long. You can only fit so much in an apartment.
Of course with moving, our computer will be down for a while. Not sure how long it will be to get internet hooked up and everything. So sorry if you don't hear from me for a while on your blogs.
( Hey Rachael, if you happen to see this tonight, can you tell Lloyd that we ARE moving tomorrow. (I don't know if he is still available to help for an hour or since its' kind of short notice, we didn't know if we were moving tomorrow or monday). I forgot to call and now it's too late to call.)

Gingi

I finished the drapes to Gingi's room. Here's a pic so you can see them all done. :) I like the yellow, it blocks light but not too much.

While going through Gingi's older clothes, I found this. My aunt Linda made it for her. It was a baby shower gift. She is still a little too small to wear it, but I think it will fit good in about 6 months.

Kristi's Baby Shower

Tonight I threw a baby shower for Glen's sister, Kristi. I was very pleased with how it turned out. I was afraid that only a few people would show up, but to my surprise there were about 25 total! We played a few games and then enjoyed fruit pizza while Kristi opened her gifts.

All of us are sisters-in-law and we are all pregnant and two months apart.

Our Cabinets

We got our cabinets in today. Now all they need are the doors. I love our cabinets. We have two lazy susans and the drawers have nice gliders that let you slide the drawer all the way out without if falling on your toes. They can also hold up to 100 pounds each! Very sturdy!

I really like our pantry. These shelves are sturdy. When Glen was building them, he would sit on them to make sure they could hold his weight without breaking. It made me nervous, but it's nice to know they are built to last!

This is where our sink and dishwasher will go.

Carebear Curtains!

I bought a pattern the other day to make curtains for Ginger's room. I'm so excited for how they turned out. As soon as I was done, I ran to Walmart to get a rod and then went to the house to install them. I used the same fabric that I used to make Ginger's diaper bag.

I still need to make the drapes. They will be a soft yellow. I think it will turn out cute. The only thing we don't like about having curtains is that we no longer see the etched top window. oh well, you can still see if from the outside I guess.

My Great Find!!

So, I've been searching for a changing table that is tall enough so I don't have to hunch over or hurt my lower back. I also wanted a table that could be used as a dresser and would look good in the kids room once I'm done with the diaper changing stage. I was changing Gingi on the floor, but as my belly gets bigger, that's not so comfortable so I was changing her on a fold out table but it's super low and hurts my back to reach her.

Anway, I've gone to garage sales and looked online at JcPenny's, Sears, Babies R Us and today I thought of Walmart online. We also went to a few furniture stores, but everything seemed to be built so cheap and flimsy.

I found this dresser on other sites but it was priced out of our budget and then I found it on Walmart's site for $139 cheaper!! Now I can afford it and it's exactly what I've been wanting! Unlike some other stores, Walmart online offers free shipping to any Walmart store I need. Or I could pay 25 dollars to have it shipped right to my door. This dresser has great ratings too. The only complaint is that it takes a few hours for most people to assemble but they claim it's well worth the time and is very sturdy. The dimensions are 55"x20"x41". Perfect for my height!

busy busy no time to blog.

I haven't been around much to check out everyone's blog or update mine. We are moving on the 30th of this month so I've been busy packing and spending most of my time out at the house. It's been working great to take Ginger with me now that her room is done. She has been so good with taking naps and entertaining herself while I caulk or do touch up paint, clean etc.

It's been fun spending the whole day at the house with Glen. I like working with him.

Glen built shelves and installed trim and I ran my finger raw caulking all day the past few days. It was worth it though. You can't see any cracks so the frames around the doors look like one piece.

I can't believe we are actually leaving the apartment life behind in two weeks!

Morgan Lake

The weather has finally warmed up and it appears it's going to stay this time. We've been going up to Morgan lake to fish and have camp fire dinners. I love that it is just a 5-10 minute drive from where we live and yet we feel like it's such an escape from the daily grind.

We like wrapping up corn on the cob and potatoes and throwing them in the fire and roasting keilbasa and marshmellows.

Scot was pretty excited to catch this fish. It was a bigger one than the others they've caught. It was around 14" long.

Glen and his brothers started building our cabinets for our kitchen.
It's exciting to see the progress from 4x9 sheets of plywood turn into this! It reminds me of when I made cabinets and lockers with metal. It's fun to see the differences. They use glue and nails where I would use rivets and metal sealant.

Our 5 family garden

I finally remembered to bring my camera to take pics of our garden. It is plenty big to serve all us Chandlers.
We planted peas, cantelope, watermellon, corn, popcorn, tomatoes, potatoes, squash, etc.

It's a big garden! It's fun to see the new sproutes. I've never had a garden before, but Glen was raised planting gardens. Lucky for me I have someone to teach me all the tricks. :)

Free puppies!

Our German Shepard had 6 pups. 5 boys and 1 girl. They are all these cute butterballs. The father dog is a border collie or sheep dog.
Either way, we think the dogs will turn out pretty inteligent. So, anyone want a free puppy? Let us know!

In My Arms

Off to the left side bar is a song you can hear. My sister Wendy shared it with me and I thought it was so sweet. It's a mother singing to her baby. If you listen to the radio, you have probably heard it, but I rarely hear the radio, so it was new to me.

Monthly Ethnic dinner

Saturday evening we had our ethnic dinner. This month we did German. Glen went to Germany during one summer as an exchange student when he was in high school. For the dinner I made jumbo pretzels (thanks to a friend of a friends recipe off a blog I found while blog surfing) and I made German chocolate cake. Scot made sausages with with saurkraut and meatballs, Kristi made Rye bread and a really good tea.
Shari made a dish that had carrots, sliced apples, green beans and onions mixed with apple vinegar. Mark made a really good fruit pie. (don't have a photo of that, but it was pretty) and a noodle dish.

Whenever we have an ethnic dinner, who ever is in charge brings facts or tells us something interesting about the culture. It makes it fun....(when you can actually hear what they are saying ....)
