Harvest!

We have been so busy harvesting our five family size garden! Glen and I like to get a load of corn or peas and just sit and process them while watching Smallville.

Last week we went to Glens' sisters to can tomatoe soup. We used the applesauce maker to make the soup. That made it go so much easier! I'll be glad when all the garden stuff is done.

We finally gave in and bought a freezer from Sears to keep all our food from the garden in. I knew the sale at sears was over, so I went online and printed out the online sale for the same freezer. I took it to Sears and they let me have the freezer for the online sale price! :) yeah!

I'm so excited to have a freezer. Now I want to make a bunch of casserole dishes to have on hand for after I have Jack.

Of course, the first thing we stocked up on was..Tilamook Ice-cream! It just happened to be on sale too! YUM!!

Finally done!

All last week I've been staying up till midnight working on this quiet book. It was actually a relief society activity a year and a half ago that I missed out on, so I just bought the directions packet and have kept it in my closet since. I finally decided to just do and and get it done before Jack comes. I finished the front and back cover just last night! Recognize the characters? That's Rainbow Brite's friend and the Sprite is paddling the boat. :)

Ginger already really likes this book. The clock page is one of my favorites. I just like how it turned out.

Here is the back cover. I think it turned out pretty cute. I do like the front cover better. I'm going to order some 4" rings to replace the yarn with. No one here has rings big enough.

Maternity Pics

A few months ago, my friend was pregnant and had maternity pictures taken. I thought that was such a neat idea. My friend Nelli did such a good job getting our pictures. All I had to do was make lemon bars for Glen and treat him to Pizza hut afterwards. :)

Shannon's Baby Shower

Some friends planned a surprise baby shower at my house for our friend Shannon. To our surprise she had her baby 5 weeks early!! (hence why I couldn't sleep until I had my hospital bag put together) Her baby was 5 pounds. So tiny and cute! We're just happy that mom and baby are healthy.

I really like what she named him. Preston Freeman.

Kate Lilly Chandler

Congratulations to my brother and sister-in-law. Kate Lilly Chandler was born around 4:30am September 14th.

Kate weighs 7 pounds 5 oz. so tiny!

Can't Sleep Stage

I'm at the waking up really hungry stage and then not being able to go back to sleep part of the pregnancy. I thought since I feel wide awake, I might as well catch up on everyone's news and post comments. So here I am..2:30am wide awake! I wish I could just sleep when I'm supposed to so I don't need a nap during the day. I would rather get things done than nap during the day.
Last night I couldn't sleep because eversince I found out that my friend Shannon had her baby 5 weeks early, I've felt the nesting instinct come on strong. I stayed awake last night thinking of all the things I need to do before Jack comes. like..buy a newborn outfit for him and diapers, put together hospital bag, re-arrange Ginger's room so Jack will fit in etc. I also want to get some scrapbooking done and stock up on household stuff and make a bunch of casseroles to put in our freezer (that we get next friday).

I've also been craving cheese and milk alot. I've worked hard to steady my weight gain this time 'round, but now the weight is coming on faster and I still have nine weeks left. all that work for nothing. oh well. I spose eating cheese sandwiches at 2 in the morning doesn't help.

sorry this is a boring post..it's just that there is no one awake to talk to . though...now that I think of it.. I should have someone to talk to. many of you out there are pregnant. so, is it just me with the sleep problem?

Back up to Washington

We went to my parents last week to help replace their old windows with new ones. We were lucky to have such nice DRY weather...perfect for caulking! I think Grandpa was Ginger's favorite person! She prefered going to him rather than me or Glen. Thanks to our friend Luke for helping with that huge window upstairs! Luke and I used to work sheetmetal together and he has become a friend of our family eversince.

Thanks to Kathy Sorenson ( I used to babysit for her long ago) she gave me her hiking pack to use for carrying Ginger. Her kids have outgrown it. It's in such good shape. We are so excited to have one. We've been wanting one, but never wanted to spend the money.

Ginger fit just fine in it and seemed to enjoy being up at our level. Thanks Kathy!!

The Puyallup Fair

Thanks to Amalea Hendrickson, we all got free tickets to go to the fair. The weather was perfect!
It was so fun to watch little Ginger on the rides. she did really good and was brave to go alone on the ones we couldn't fit on. Of course she cried when she had to get off. :) We tried to get her face painted, but she was afraid so we settled on her leg.

I was hoping to find scrapbooking stuff like I did two years ago, but no one was selling any. I couldn't believe they didn't have a stand up for that. I was hoping to get Jack's baby boy book kit here like I did Ginger's. Instead I went back to Jo-Annes fabric and got 40% of a baby boy book there.

This picture reminds me of 'cutting the cake'. When we were engadged, Glen and I came here and paid 12 bucks to pick an oyster out. The first one I picked had a size 8 black pearl in it which Glen later set in a penant for me. Now, whenever we come to the fair, we pick an oyster. The last time we got a small golden pearl. But this time we were excited to get a 7 1/2 blue pearl! It's value is 80 dollars.

Catherine Creek

Last Saturday we went on a hike out to Catherine Creek. It was so beautiful out and it smelled so sweet up on the mountain.
At the start of the trail, it looked like it would be a nice stroll. It turned out to be this steep all up hill climb. It was still fun even though I had shin splints the next day. I guess I need to do more hiking than biking these days.

30 weeks pregnant!

My Bike trailer just got cooler

Since having a garage, it's made biking more conveniant. No more carrying the bike and trailer down the stairs and assembling it every time I want to go for a ride. Now it's ready to go each morning for running errands, or getting groceries! I just realized the back has some clips to strap in my groceries. I can pack quite a bit in there. Today I got four bags of groceries and two gallons of milk. I just take the back roads to get to where I want to go.

Ginger does so good. She just reads her little books.

I'm posting these pics so my mom can see the two clocks that I got online for a good deal! The carebear one is in Ginger's room. I got it for 14 dollars with free shipping and they put Ginger's name on it too. The only thing is that the border was supposed to be blue, not green. oh well, it still looks good in her room.

Our bathroom needed a clock and I wanted a butterfly one to go with the shower curtain. I found this online for 9 bucks! Of course, I had to pay 8 bucks for shipping and handling...a little overpriced, but considering what they had at walmart for the same price, I thought this was way nicer.

For ButterScotch Lovers

Our favorite hamburger joint, Houghts, has these super good butterscotch sundaes. So one day we asked the owner if we could buy some butterscotch from her. She told us she gets it from some place and would pick us up a can on her next outing. Welp, we got it yesturday and boy is it good! 9 bucks for this big can of the best butterscotch you've ever had! It will probably last us a year...or not. :)

Huckle Berries

This past weekend just our little family hung out together. We went on a bike ride that was really fun. But right at the last part, about half a mile to the end, Glen's tire went flat. So we pulled over and pumped it up real quick. Right when he took off again, then his chain broke. So he hopped on my bike to go get the truck while I waited on the side of the road with Ginger.
Of course as soon as he left, my imagination started working and I started rehearsing in my mind what I would do if a bear came or if a mountain lion came. Would I leave Ginger in the bike trailer hoping the aluminum bars would somehow frustrate a bear or would I take her out and run down the road and hope a car comes by? Well, in the middle of contemplating this, Glen came back with the truck and then we rode home and lived happily ever after...actually, we rode home, grabbed some KFC and then went up to pick huckleberries in the mountains.
We also took the dogs with us so no bears, lions or badgers could sneak up on us.

Ginger loves eating the berries. Once in a while she'll put one in the bucket.

This time we got about a gallon and a half. The next day we made huckle berry waffles. yum!
